About Agosto Arianese

For the first few days of August, Ariano nel Polesine transforms into a large open-air stage. Agosto Arianese is one of the oldest festivals in the Po Delta, with roots dating back to 1690: a full week of ballroom orchestras, dancing in the square, a funfair, rich lotteries, exhibitions, a charity raffle, and fireworks displays. The heart of it all is Piazza Garibaldi, lively every evening until late at night, with the highlight being the Notte Gialla (Yellow Night) and the San Ghitàn celebrations.

A tradition spanning centuries

Few events in Polesine can boast the longevity of Agosto Arianese: the festival of Ariano nel Polesine, in the heart of the Po Delta Park in the province of Rovigo, dates back as far as 1690. For over three centuries, every early August, the town gathers around Piazza Garibaldi for one of the most cherished events in the Delta area, organized with dedication by the Pro Loco Ariano nel Polesine.

Music, dancing, and funfair

The program unfolds over several days, blending the popular spirit of Venetian sagre (local festivals) with the flair of modern celebrations. Every evening, the square hosts orchestras for ballroom dancing, while the funfair welcomes families and children. There are also rich lotteries with significant prize money, exhibitions, a motorcycle display curated by the Moto Club Ariano, and a charity raffle, all in pure Ariano style.

The Notte Gialla and San Ghitàn

Among the most anticipated moments is the Notte Gialla (Yellow Night), dubbed the festival of associations par excellence: the town dresses in yellow, shop windows and houses are decorated, and local volunteers bring life to streets and squares. The conclusion is marked by the San Ghitàn celebrations, with a Holy Mass, a procession, and a grand pyromusical show that lights up the Delta sky.

Flavors and identity of the Delta

Alongside the fun, Agosto Arianese is also an opportunity to taste the typical products of the region and breathe in the identity of a community that, year after year, renews its bond with its history. For visitors to the Po Delta Park, it's the best way to discover the most authentic soul of this corner of Veneto.

Agosto Arianese — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Agosto Arianese will return as tradition dictates in the first days of August, in Piazza Garibaldi and the center of Ariano nel Polesine. The usual ingredients are confirmed: orchestras for ballroom dancing, a funfair, lotteries, exhibitions, a charity raffle, the Notte Gialla, and the San Ghitàn celebrations with a pyromusical show.

The Pro Loco Ariano nel Polesine renews the appointment with Agosto Arianese in the first days of the month in 2026. The structure of the festival follows the established format: evenings of music and dancing in Piazza Garibaldi, a funfair, rich lotteries, exhibitions, and a charity raffle, with the highlights of the Notte Gialla and the San Ghitàn celebrations.
