The triathlon that opens the season on the Riviera delle Palme
The Adriatic Series Triathlon in Cupra Marittima is one of the most anticipated sporting events of spring in the municipality of the province of Ascoli Piceno, on the Riviera delle Palme. Organized by the club Flipper Triathlon ASD as part of the Adriatic Series circuit, the event traditionally opens the triathlon season in the Marche region, transforming the Cupra promenade into a large sports village for an entire weekend in late April.
The program is spread over two days with three different race formats, designed for athletes of all levels:
The swimming leg takes place in the Adriatic waters off the promenade, while the cycling and running courses wind through the coastline and the hilly hinterland of the Piceno area, offering athletes panoramic views of the sea and the Marche countryside.
With almost 450 participants from all over Italy, the Adriatic Series has become a driver for sports tourism in the area. The administration of the Municipality of Cupra Marittima supports the event, which also involves local tourism operators with dedicated menus for athletes and accommodation agreements. Among the characteristic initiatives, the "Cupra in Rose" campaign promotes female participation with subsidized registrations and floral gifts at the finish line, while youth categories enjoy free registrations.
Set in one of the most charming villages on the Adriatic coast of the Marche region, the race combines athletic challenge with the charm of the landscape. Cupra Marittima, with its Civita Archaeological Natural Park and its historic center perched on the hill, offers athletes and companions an ideal setting to experience sport and discover the Piceno territory at the beginning of the beautiful season.
The fifth edition of the Adriatic Series Triathlon in Cupra Marittima was held on April 25th and 26th, 2026, on the promenade of the Riviera delle Palme, confirming itself as the opening event of the triathlete season in the Marche region with nearly 450 registered athletes.
On Saturday, April 25th, the No-Draft races took place: the AS75 (1 km swim, 60 km bike, 14 km run), won by Sara Savoia among women and Samuele Bonetto among men, and the Sprint (750 m, 20 km, 5 km) with victories by Carlotta Verde and Marco Balestrieri. On Sunday, April 26th, the Olympic Gold distance, valid as the FITRI Marche Regional Championship, crowned Andrea Balestrieri and Rachele Laschi, with regional titles going to Niccolรฒ Sancisi and Caterina Cavarischia. The courses were designed by Andrea Marconi along the coastline and the hills of the Piceno area.
