A Jump in the Past - Siege of the Fortress is the medieval historical re-enactment that animates the Visconti-Venetian Fortress of Lonato del Garda, in the province of Brescia, for one day. The fortress, one of the most imposing in Lombardy, becomes the stage for historical encampments, scenes of medieval life, and spectacular combat moments.
A Day of History and Spectacle
From morning to evening, visitors can stroll through the historical camps and educational activities, witness the declaration of war and battles, admire the jousting tournament with knights in armour, and follow the scenic reconstruction of the medieval assault on the fortification. The day concludes with a final, high-impact performance.
An Event for the Whole Family
The re-enactment is organized by the Municipality of Lonato del Garda together with the Confraternita del Lupo of Montichiari and the Fondazione Ugo Da Como. Amidst armoured combat, court life, and educational animations, the event offers an opportunity for fun and historical discovery for both adults and children, complemented by a food stall with local specialities.
Siege of the Fortress — edition 2026
The third edition of A Jump in the Past - Siege of the Fortress takes place on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 10 AM to 6 PM, at the Visconti-Venetian Fortress of Lonato del Garda. The day features historical camps, educational activities, armoured combat, a jousting tournament, and the spectacular reconstruction of the medieval siege, organized by the Municipality with the Confraternita del Lupo of Montichiari and the Fondazione Ugo Da Como.

- 10:00 AM — Opening of historical camps and educational activities
- 11:00 AM — Declaration of war and initial battle
- 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM — Lunch break (food stall from 12:00 PM)

- 4:00 PM — Jousting tournament with knights in armour
- 5:00 PM — Scenic reconstruction of the medieval assault on the fortification

How to get there
Lonato del Garda is accessible from the A4 Milan-Venice motorway (Desenzano-Sirmione or Brescia Est exit) and by train from the station on the Milan-Venice line. The Fortress is located at Via Rocca, in the historic centre.
