About 800 Festival

Every summer, the medieval village of Saludecio, in the hills of Valconca near Rimini, transforms into a grand re-enactment of the 19th century. For several evenings in August, alleys, squares, and historic buildings become the stage for classical, folk, and jazz music concerts, street theatre performances, dance, fire shows, and aerial acrobatics, accompanied by characters in period costume, exhibitions, poetry trails, and food and wine stalls. The 800 Festival is one of Emilia-Romagna's longest-running and most beloved summer cultural events, with free admission.

A Journey into the 19th Century in the Rimini Hills

The 800 Festival (also known as Ottocento Festival) is the summer event that transforms the village of Saludecio, in the heart of Valconca near Rimini, into a evocative living fresco of the 19th century every August. For several consecutive evenings, the historic centre of the municipality dresses in the fashion, atmosphere, and sounds of the 1800s, when Saludecio earned the nickname "Capital of Valconca".

A Village That Becomes a Stage

The cobbled streets, squares, and historic buildings of the village host a rich and multidisciplinary program. Classical, opera, and operetta concerts engage with folk music, jazz, and balfolk; street theatre, dance, fire shows, juggling, and aerial acrobatics animate every corner until late at night. Among the events that have made the festival famous over the years are "Profumo di 800", dedicated to folk music and performances, and "800 NeroNotteTeatro", the more intense and nocturnal side of the festival, hosted at the evocative Castello di Meleto.

Between History, Costume, and Gastronomy

  • Figurants and characters in period costume animating salons, grand balls, and scenes of 19th-century life
  • Exhibitions, poetry trails, storytelling, and traditional Romagna folk songs
  • Evening openings of churches, museums, and historic sites in the village
  • Food and wine stalls with traditional dishes and flavours

A Tradition Rooted in Emilia-Romagna

Born in the 1980s, the 800 Festival has grown to become one of the most recognized summer cultural events in the hinterland of Rimini and throughout Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the Municipality of Saludecio in collaboration with local associations, it retains its popular character and free admission, attracting visitors every year from all over Romagna and the nearby Adriatic coast. For those staying in Cattolica, Misano, or Riccione, an evening in Saludecio is a perfect opportunity to discover an authentic and evocative side of the hinterland.

800 Festival โ€” edition 2026

The Municipality has officially announced the event, but as of now, the precise dates in August and the detailed program have not yet been released. As tradition dictates, the historic centre of the village will host concerts, street theatre, performances, and costumed figures, with free admission.
