The 800 Festival (also known as Ottocento Festival) is the summer event that transforms the village of Saludecio, in the heart of Valconca near Rimini, into a evocative living fresco of the 19th century every August. For several consecutive evenings, the historic centre of the municipality dresses in the fashion, atmosphere, and sounds of the 1800s, when Saludecio earned the nickname "Capital of Valconca".
The cobbled streets, squares, and historic buildings of the village host a rich and multidisciplinary program. Classical, opera, and operetta concerts engage with folk music, jazz, and balfolk; street theatre, dance, fire shows, juggling, and aerial acrobatics animate every corner until late at night. Among the events that have made the festival famous over the years are "Profumo di 800", dedicated to folk music and performances, and "800 NeroNotteTeatro", the more intense and nocturnal side of the festival, hosted at the evocative Castello di Meleto.
Born in the 1980s, the 800 Festival has grown to become one of the most recognized summer cultural events in the hinterland of Rimini and throughout Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the Municipality of Saludecio in collaboration with local associations, it retains its popular character and free admission, attracting visitors every year from all over Romagna and the nearby Adriatic coast. For those staying in Cattolica, Misano, or Riccione, an evening in Saludecio is a perfect opportunity to discover an authentic and evocative side of the hinterland.
The Municipality of Saludecio has confirmed the return of the 800 Festival in the summer of 2026. The precise dates in August and the full program have not yet been officially released: this page will be updated as soon as the line-ups, schedules, and venues for the performances are published.
Following the pattern of previous editions, the event is expected to offer the usual journey into the 19th century with classical and folk music, street theatre, fire shows and acrobatics, costumed parades, and food and wine stalls in the historic centre of the Rimini village, in Emilia-Romagna. Admission is traditionally free.
Saludecio is located in the hills of Valconca, a few kilometres from the Adriatic coast. By car, take the A14 motorway, exit at Cattolica, and continue inland for about 15 minutes. The nearest train station is Cattolica-San Giovanni-Gabicce, from which you can reach the village by car or local transport. The nearest airport is Rimini's "Federico Fellini" airport.
Admission to the festival is free. The evenings typically run from late afternoon until late at night. It is advisable to arrive early and wear comfortable shoes for the cobbled streets of the historic centre.
