The world's most beautiful historic cars parade along the Garda lakeside
On June 9, 2026, Desenzano del Garda, in the province of Brescia, is preparing to host one of the most anticipated events of the year: the passage of the 1000 Miglia, now in its 44th historic re-enactment. The race, which Enzo Ferrari called "the most beautiful race in the world," retraces the route that has made the challenge from Brescia to Rome and back legendary since 1927.
Desenzano is one of the key municipalities on the first leg from Brescia to Padua on Tuesday, June 9. The convoy, which departed from Brescia in the morning, reaches the Brescia side of Lake Garda in the early afternoon. Leading the parade is the Ferrari Tribute, passing around 2:15 PM, followed by the over 400 historic 1000 Miglia cars expected from around 3:45 PM.
The cars will cross Desenzano and the hamlet of Rivoltella following a scenic route: via Valtenesi, via Vo', the Lungolago Cesare Battisti, up to Piazza Matteotti, where the stamping control is set up, one of the most spectacular moments of the entire day. From here, the racing cars continue through via Angelo Anelli, via Tommaso Dal Molin, via Giuseppe Motta, via Giuseppe Di Vittorio, and via Francesco Agello before rejoining the state road to the east.
The 1000 Miglia is not just a speed race but a historic re-enactment reserved for cars built between 1927 and 1957, the same ones that participated in the original editions of the race. Seeing Alfa Romeos, Maseratis, Mercedes, Jaguars, and of course Ferraris parade along Desenzano's lakeside is an experience that draws enthusiasts from all over Europe.
For the Municipality of Desenzano del Garda, the passage of the 1000 Miglia is also a prime tourist showcase. Bars, restaurants, and businesses in the historic center liven up the waiting hours, while the lakeside fills with spectators ready to photograph the cars as they pass. A perfect opportunity to combine a passion for engines with the scenic beauty of the lower Garda region.
The 1000 Miglia 2026 kicks off on Tuesday, June 9, from Brescia with the first leg heading to Padua. In the afternoon, the convoy crosses the Brescia side of Lake Garda and reaches Desenzano del Garda, where a stamping control is set up in Piazza Matteotti. The edition features a "figure-eight" route of almost 2,000 kilometers from Brescia to Rome and back, with stops in Padua, Montecatini Terme, Rome, and Rimini.
City route: via Valtenesi, via Vo', Lungolago Cesare Battisti, Piazza Matteotti, via Angelo Anelli, via Tommaso Dal Molin, via Giuseppe Motta, via Giuseppe Di Vittorio, via Francesco Agello.
