Would You Like a Drop of Vin Santo?

The twentieth edition of the event was held in Montefollonico, a hamlet of Torrita di Siena, on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, 2025, organized by the Pro Loco of Montefollonico with the Municipality of Torrita di Siena, the Strada del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and the Flavors of the Valdichiana Senese.

The "Best Homemade Vin Santo" competition recorded a record participation with 78 amateur producers; the commission evaluated the samples anonymously on April 3, drawing up two rankings for sweet and dry Vin Santo. The awards ceremony took place on Saturday evening during a dinner at the La Chiusa restaurant.

Weekend highlights included: the local farmers' market in Piazza Cinughi, traditional games and the Panforte throwing contest, the conference on the art of Vin Santo at the Chiesa del Triano, the nature walk along the Vin Santo Trail, the 5th Ruzzolata dei caratelli, and the guided tasting of DOC Vin Santo at Palazzo Pretorio, with live music by the band HopWei.

Saturday, April 26

• 3:00 PM — Piazzetta dei Caduti: traditional games (treasure hunt and Panforte throwing)
• 4:00 PM — Chiesa del Triano: conference "The Art of Vinsanto: history, production techniques, and unique characteristics"
• 8:00 PM — La Chiusa Restaurant: dinner with awards ceremony for the "Best Homemade Vin Santo" competition

Sunday, April 27

• 9:00 AM — Piazza Matteotti (Torrita): walk and mountain bike ride along the Vin Santo Trail
• 10:00 AM — Porta del Pianello: guided tour of the village
• 3:00 PM — Piazza Cinughi: 5th Ruzzolata dei caratelli
• 5:00 PM — Palazzo Pretorio: guided tasting of DOC Vin Santo

Throughout the weekend: tastings of the competing Vin Santos in the historic center, local market, traditional dishes, and Vin Santo-based aperitifs.
