Wedding of the Sea

The 2025 edition of the Wedding of the Sea confirmed the historical re-enactment formula with which Pisa celebrates its bond with the sea. Local associations and historical groups embarked at Scalo Roncioni to travel along the Arno to Boccadarno, at the river's mouth near Marina di Pisa. There, the central ritual of the event was renewed: the casting of the ring into the waves, a gesture that has symbolized the union between the city and its element since the Middle Ages. The event, coordinated by the Compagnia dello Stile Pisano together with other historical associations, brought to life a tradition documented since the time of the Maritime Republic in the Municipality of Pisa, Tuscany.
