Edition 2025 — Mid-August Procession

On August 15, 2025, Gressoney-Saint-Jean celebrated the Assumption with the traditional Walser costume procession. After the 10:30 AM Holy Mass, the community paraded through the village streets: women wore the historic Gressoney costume, complete with the gold filigree cap, in one of the most evocative moments of the Walser summer.

The 2025 edition of the Mid-August Procession took place in Gressoney-Saint-Jean on August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption. After the 10:30 AM Holy Mass, the faithful processed through the streets of the center: women wore the ancient Walser costume – red woolen skirt, embroidered black apron, and gold filigree cap – while the village youth accompanied the sacred statue. A choral rite, deeply linked to the German-speaking identity of the community at the foot of Monte Rosa, which attracts residents and visitors every year.
