Edition 2025 — Procession of the Assumption

On August 15, 2025, Gressoney-Saint-Jean celebrated the Assumption with the traditional Walser costume procession. After the 10:30 AM Holy Mass, the community paraded through the village streets: the women wore the historic Gressoney costume, with the gold filigree cap, in one of the most evocative moments of the Walser summer.

The 2025 edition of the Ferragosto Procession took place in Gressoney-Saint-Jean on August 15th, the Feast of the Assumption. After the 10:30 AM Holy Mass, the faithful processed through the town center: the women wore the ancient Walser costume – red woolen skirt, embroidered black apron, and gold filigree cap – while the village youth accompanied the sacred statue. A choral rite, deeply linked to the German-speaking identity of the community at the foot of Monte Rosa, which attracts residents and visitors every year.
