The origins of the Waldstadion Open Air

The Waldstadion Open Air in Trens has its roots in the inaugural 2023 edition, when the musical evening in the woods was proposed as part of the Dorffest Trens, in the municipality of Campo di Trens/Freienfeld (Autonomous Province of Bolzano). The success of the initiative and the uniqueness of the venue — the old sports field surrounded by woods — prompted the local associations' committee to make the open-air event a standalone appointment starting from 2026. The brass band tradition of the Wipptal, with the Sternmarsch of the Musikkapellen, remains one of the event's defining elements.
