Virgineddi Festival

The sixth edition of the Virgineddi Festival was held in Burgio on August 1, 2025, in Piazza della Vittoria, confirming the success of an event now well-established in the summer calendar of the Sicani Mountains.

The heart of the evening was the large outdoor communal table with the traditional votive soup, distributed for free to those present and also brought to those unable to attend in person, in the spirit of sharing linked to the cult of the Madonna della Catena. The festival was enlivened by performances by the "Città di Agrigento" Folk Group, with traditional Sicilian music and dances, in an atmosphere of strong community identity. The event, organized by the Municipality of Burgio and the Pro Loco Sikania, was included in the regional circuit "The Paths of Long-Life Food."

• Free distribution of the virgineddi soup (tenerumi, cabbage, zucchini, dried fava beans, and lentils)
• Performance by the "Città di Agrigento" Folk Group with traditional Sicilian music and dances
