The Villanders processions in 2025
Throughout 2025, the cycle of religious processions that mark the liturgical year was renewed in Villanders, in the Eisacktal Valley. The celebrations included the feasts of Pentecost, Corpus Christi, Sacred Heart, the Assumption of Mary on August 15th, and Rosary Sunday in October.
On each occasion, at the end of Holy Mass, the village community marched through the streets, with the participation of the Musikkapelle Villanders and the Schützenkompanie "Anton von Gasteiger". The Corpus Christi procession took place on Saturday, departing from the courtyard of Castello Gravetsch. The Schützen accompanied the blessing at the outdoor altars with traditional mortar fire, according to a custom rooted for generations in the South Tyrolean community.
