Edition 2025 — Vernacular Theatre Brindisi
The first edition (2025)
The 1st Vernacular Theatre Festival debuted in Brindisi in the summer of 2025, as part of the Municipality's Meridiani d'Estate program. Four evenings, from July 18 to August 22, brought dialect comedies to the Commenda (Viale Risorgimento), Paradiso (Parco Bove), Bozzano, and Casale neighborhoods, starting at 9:00 PM.
The protagonists were the Brindisi companies Li tre compAri, I Teatranti, Il Sipario, and Anti&Mino. The festival, promoted by L'Ora di Brindisi and the Periferia association with the collaboration of the Fondazione Nuovo Teatro Verdi, exceeded 3,500 spectators. A special closing night, "Ci nd'è cucchiatu!", was held on September 18 in Sant'Elia, featuring the plays "Lu purtoni", "Malitettu quiddu giurnu", "E mo' ci paia", and "Poverannui".
