Varallo Carnival (Carnevalàa 'nt la Stràa)

The 2025 edition

The 2025 Varallo Carnival confirmed the richness of the Valsesian tradition with a calendar full of events. Among the main events: the cultural evening on February 1st, the Palio Valsesiano on February 2nd, the Cena d'la Pignatta on February 15th, the Giornàa d'la Giobbiaccia on February 27th, the Children's Ball, the Giornàa d'la Leugna with the Bal d'la Lum, and, finally, the Paniccia.

The festival concluded on Ash Wednesday, March 5th, with the Trial of Marcantonio: the theatrical performance led to the condemnation of the mask, followed by the torchlight procession and the burning of the effigy on the Antonini bridge, marking the end of the carnival and the beginning of Lent in Varallo, in the province of Vercelli.
