About Valeggio Contemporanea
A festival between culture and taste
Valeggio Contemporanea is the event that enlivens the historic centre of Valeggio sul Mincio, in the province of Verona, every June, intertwining culture, publishing, and food & wine. Organised by the Municipality and the Percorsi APS Association, it is an event that brings books, thought, and local flavours to the village.
Four thematic paths
The festival is divided into four paths: Valeggio Legge, with about thirty independent Italian publishers; Valeggio LiMeS, dedicated to used books, comics, vinyl records, and art prints under the banner of cultural reuse; Valeggio Riflette, a social-themed path with images and installations; and Valeggio Gusto, a food & wine showcase in Piazza Garibaldi.
Guests and gastronomic novelties
The preview at the Smeraldo Theatre hosts prominent figures from the national cultural scene. Among the gastronomic offerings, the Tortello al Custoza stands out, a vegetarian dish that combines Valeggio's pasta with Verona celery, Monte Veronese DOP cheese, and Custoza DOC wine. Valeggio Contemporanea thus enhances the identity of the Mincio village, through publishing tradition, civic reflection, and local cuisine.
Valeggio Contemporanea — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Valeggio Contemporanea opens with a preview on Wednesday, June 3rd at 8:30 PM at the Smeraldo Theatre, where Paolo Crepet presents "Riprendersi l'anima" (Reclaiming the Soul). The festival continues on Saturday, June 6th (10 AM-10 PM) and Sunday, June 7th (9 AM-6:30 PM) in the historic centre.
The four paths will animate the village: Valeggio Legge with thirty independent publishers, Valeggio LiMeS with used books and vinyl records, Valeggio Riflette on the theme of "Invisible People," and Valeggio Gusto in Piazza Garibaldi, featuring the debut of Tortello al Custoza.
