Edition 2025 — Umbria Film Festival

The 29th edition of the Umbria Film Festival took place in Montone from July 8 to 13, 2025, with the artistic direction of Maria Teresa Cavina and the ever-present Terry Gilliam. Among the guests awarded the keys to the city were Enzo D'Alò, Laura Citarella, and Charles McKeown; Saverio Costanzo received the first Award for Excellence. Open-air screenings, masterclasses, and a tribute to the forty years of 'Brazil'.

The 29th edition of the Umbria Film Festival (July 8-13, 2025) featured the artistic direction of Maria Teresa Cavina, alongside Giacomo Caldarelli, Ivan Frenguelli, and Sergio Sozzo, with the presence of honorary president Terry Gilliam.

Among the protagonists were the masterclasses of Enzo D'Alò, Laura Citarella, and Gilliam himself ("The Terry's Prophecy"), the panel "Lights in the Darkness," and the Amarcorti short film competition. To celebrate forty years of Brazil, Gilliam and screenwriter Charles McKeown presented a special screening. The keys to the city were awarded to D'Alò, Citarella, and McKeown, while the first Award for Excellence went to Saverio Costanzo.

2025 Edition (July 8-13) — main moments

  • Opening night with a student short film, a Buster Keaton classic with live music, and S.S. Rajamouli's RRR
  • Wednesday, July 9 — Masterclass by Enzo D'Alò (moderated by Sergio Sozzo)
  • Thursday, July 10 — Masterclass by Laura Citarella
  • Saturday, July 12 — Masterclass by Terry Gilliam "The Terry's Prophecy" (with Daniele Dottorini) and special screening of Brazil for the film's 40th anniversary, with Charles McKeown
  • International selection: Orwell: 2+2=5 (Raoul Peck), Yunan, Trenque Lauquen, Sterben
  • Amarcorti short film competition (jury: Jean-Christophe Clair, Alice Kharoubi, Adriano Valerio)
  • Open-air screenings in the squares and streets of Montone
