U Passiu Santu - Passion of Christ Re-enactment

The 41st edition of U Passiu Santu was held on Good Friday 2025 in the historic center of Buccheri, in the province of Syracuse. Once again this year, the community gathered around the sacred performance, animated by over a hundred extras and costumed actors who recited the Passion of Christ in rhyming Gallo-Italic dialect.

The route concluded with the descent from Mount Calvary and a stop at the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena, where participants left a sign of devotion. The event, supported by the Municipality and organized by the U Passiu Santu Association presided over by Sandra Riscica, confirmed the strong bond between faith, dialect, and the identity of the Iblei village.
