Fat Tuesday in Treviso and the grand circuit of the Carnevali di Marca
The Treviso Carnival is the city stage of the Carnevali di Marca, the circuit that brings together the carnival parades of the province of Treviso. For a few days, the historic center of the capital, with its arcaded squares, the Loggia dei Cavalieri, and the sixteenth-century walls, fills with allegorical floats, confetti, and masks, in one of the most heartfelt popular festivals of the Marca Trevigiana.
The highlight is the parade of allegorical floats on Fat Tuesday, which starts from Piazza Duomo and crosses Via Canova, Borgo Cavour, and the Walls up to Piazzale Burchiellati, where the jury's tribune is set up along a route of about one and a half kilometers. About twenty floats and masked groups, preceded by majorettes and followed by the Trevigiano Folkloristic Group with the King of Carnival, liven up the afternoon in front of a crowd that has exceeded seventy thousand attendees in the busiest editions.
Treviso is just one of the stops: the Carnevali di Marca include a total of about twenty parades and several family events distributed among the Municipalities of the province, from Montebelluna to Conegliano, with about a hundred floats and around nine thousand participants. The city parade is broadcast live by local broadcasters, a sign of the event's deep roots in the Veneto region.
In addition to the parade, the weekend preceding Fat Tuesday brings street shows, games, and entertainment for children to the squares of the ancient heart of Treviso, with juggling, acrobatics, music, and storytelling.
The Treviso Carnival 2026 enlivened the center of Treviso from February 14 to 17, as part of the Carnevali di Marca circuit which featured about a hundred floats, around nine thousand participants, and twenty parades throughout the province. In Treviso, the festival attracted about ninety thousand visitors.
Treviso is reachable by train (Treviso Centrale station, a few minutes' walk from the historic center) and by car from the A27 and A4 motorways. During the parade, traffic changes and closures are expected in the center: it is advisable to use the park-and-ride facilities and reach the Walls on foot.
Participation in the parades and square events is free.
