Women, Knights, Crafts: two days of medieval re-enactment in the heart of Treia
Treia Medievale is the historical re-enactment that every year brings the historic centre of Treia, in the province of Macerata in the Marche region, back to the time when the village was still called Montecchio. For two days, knights, ladies, falconers, jugglers, and artisans bring the 13th century back to life within the walls, squares, and alleys of the town, in a journey that blends history, entertainment, and the beauty of the Marche landscape.
The 2026 edition, scheduled for June 5th and 6th, revolves around the theme "Women, Knights, Crafts". The common thread is the role of women in the transmission of medieval knowledge, told through a conference, a military life re-enactment, and a grand animated night tour. The event is conceived and curated by the Associazione ArTemisiaLab, chaired by Edi Castellani, in collaboration with Lube Academy and under the patronage of the Municipality of Treia, the Egisto Paladini Comprehensive Institute, the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Marche Region, and the Archaeological Groups of Italy.
Unlike the grand Renaissance festivals of the region, Treia Medievale focuses on the intimate atmosphere of the village and a careful philological reconstruction of daily life in the 13th century. It is an event suitable for families, with activities dedicated to children, and with free admission: the ideal opportunity to discover one of the most evocative historic centres in the Macerata hinterland, already famous for the Palio dei Comuni and the game of pallone col bracciale.
The fourth edition of Treia Medievale is dedicated to the theme "Women, Knights, Crafts" and focuses on the role of women in the transmission of medieval knowledge. The event, conceived by the Associazione ArTemisiaLab with the collaboration of Lube Academy, alternates moments of cultural insight and live re-enactment in the historic centre of Treia, in the province of Macerata.
Program provided by organizers and local press; times subject to possible changes.
Treia is located in the hinterland of the province of Macerata. By car, it can be reached from the SS77 Val di Chienti (Macerata exit) or from the SS361 dual carriageway, continuing on provincial roads towards the historic centre. Free admission to all festival activities.
The historic centre of Treia is on a slope: comfortable shoes are recommended for the uphill and downhill paths. The event is suitable for adults and children, with rest stops along the way. For information: tel. 339 8178467 / 328 6135060.
