Edition 2025 — San Nicandro Traditional Bonfires

In the winter of 2025, San Nicandro Garganico renewed the tradition of neighborhood bonfires dedicated to Saint Anthony Abbot, Saint Sebastian, Saint Cyrus, and Saint Blaise, between January 17 and February 3. Fires were lit at sunset in the squares and open spaces of the center, with roasted meat, sausages, chickpeas, wine, singing, and dancing, in the spirit of an identity-defining ritual passed down through generations.

In 2025, the Traditional Bonfires of San Nicandro Garganico took place according to the usual calendar, with fires lit on the evenings of January 17 (Saint Anthony Abbot), January 20 (Saint Sebastian), January 31 (Saint Cyrus), and February 3 (Saint Blaise). Neighborhood committees set up wood piles in the town's squares and open spaces, where the community gathered around the fire to roast meat and sausages, cook chickpeas, drink wine, and spend time together with singing and dancing. An event that, in the province of Foggia, remains one of the most authentic winter rituals of the Gargano and effectively opens the Carnival period.
