The Magic of Fireflies

2025 Edition

In 2025, The Magic of Fireflies returned to Palagianello, in the province of Taranto, confirming a well-established format dedicated to the phenomenon of bioluminescence. Throughout the month of May, when fireflies are most visible, the I Portulani association accompanied small groups along the itinerary connecting the rock churches of the ravine to the nocturnal observation of the luminous insects.

As in other editions, the evening combined the historical-cultural component — the visit to the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie and the rock church of San Girolamo — with the naturalistic one, with the descent into the ravine and the final moment, in silence, dedicated to the dance of the fireflies. Participation was by reservation only, with a limited number of places.
