The street art festival in the Ghost Village of Celleno
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Teverina Buskers is an international street artists festival that brings the Ghost Village of Celleno to life at the end of every summer, in the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia. Established in 2016, it is the first festival in the province of Viterbo entirely dedicated to street art and contemporary circus, and over the years it has become one of the most anticipated events in the Lazio cultural calendar. The event takes place in the municipality of Celleno, a small town nestled between Viterbo and Civita di Bagnoregio, famous for its medieval village that was abandoned and later reclaimed as a venue for events.
The great uniqueness of Teverina Buskers lies in its natural setting: the Ghost Village, the ancient core of Celleno abandoned during the 20th century due to landslides and earthquakes, fills with sounds, colors, and wonder for four days. The stone streets, alleys, and squares of the village become scattered stages where performances and shows follow one another in an atmosphere suspended in time, unique to the entire region.
The program features dozens of events spread across multiple locations set up within the village. Acrobats, jugglers, tightrope walkers, storytellers, clowns, comedians, magicians, stilt-walkers, mimes, and traveling musicians from Italy and various countries around the world take turns performing. Alongside the shows, there are workshops, artistic improvisations, a craft and juggling market, and various street food options, making it an event designed as a widespread celebration for families, children, and performing arts enthusiasts.
Behind the festival is the Il Circo Verde association, led by artistic director Simone Romanรฒ, who brings an international panorama of circus and street arts to Celleno with Teverina Buskers, while simultaneously enhancing the village's heritage and the identity of the Tuscia region. The event, supported by the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Celleno, combines live performance, the rediscovery of local sites, and positive impacts on the local economy, confirming its status as one of the key events for street art in central Italy.
The 2026 edition of Teverina Buskers does not yet have official dates confirmed at the time of publication. The festival, which reached its tenth edition in 2025, is held every year in September in the Ghost Village of Celleno with free performances by street artists, contemporary circus, juggling, workshops, and a craft market. The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Il Circo Verde association on the official website and social media channels.
Celleno is located in the province of Viterbo, in the Lazio region, between Viterbo and Civita di Bagnoregio. By car, it can be reached via the Via Cassia or the A1 motorway (exits Orte or Attigliano-Bomarzo), continuing along the provincial roads of the Tuscia. The nearest train station is Viterbo, from which you can continue by car or local bus connections.
Admission to the shows is free. Events mainly take place in the afternoon and evening within the Ghost Village. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking through the stone alleys of the village.
