Meetings, residencies, and training in choreographic arts in Rome
Territori Creativi is the summer project signed by DAF - Dance Arts Faculty, one of the most dynamic centers for choreographic training in the Capital. Dedicated to contemporary dance and the choreographic arts, the project transforms the month of July into a continuous journey of creation, study, and sharing, taking auteur dance out of the rehearsal studios and returning it to the city. The event takes place in the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the heart of the Lazio region.
The common thread of Territori Creativi is the idea that dance is simultaneously research, craft, and encounter. For this reason, the program alternates between work sessions reserved for artists and opportunities open to the public, building a dialogue between those who create dance and those who watch it. The project is promoted by Roma Capitale - Department of Culture, winner of the Roma Creativa 365 Public Notice, in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura.
The 2026 edition runs from July 5th to August 1st and is divided into three main parts. The performance showcase cycle (July 5-10) brings the creations developed during the residencies to the Teatro Vascello in a series of events open to the public. This is followed by the intensive seminar (July 13-18) with Nina Watt, a historic figure of modern dance, aimed at professionals and dancers in training. The project closes with Romestate Dance International (July 27-August 1), the module dedicated to younger dancers.
The Romestate Dance International 2026 module offers study days dedicated to classical and contemporary dance for dancers aged 10 to 25. Each day takes place from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the DAF headquarters and combines technical modules with experimental choreography workshops, led by a wide Italian and international faculty including, among others, Emiliano Piccoli, Laura Comi, Ricardo Fernando, Jemima Colin, Jin Young Won, Mauro Astolfi, Zsófia Safranka Peti, Maria Cossu, Giuliana Mele, Alessandra Chirulli, and Marco Prete.
The event lives in two complementary hubs. The DAF - Dance Arts Faculty, at Via di Pietralata 159/a (Municipality IV), is the headquarters for training and study days. The Teatro Vascello, at Via Giacinto Carini 78 (Municipality XII), a historic space for Roman theatrical and choreographic research, hosts the public showcases. Two places that tell the story of a Rome of dance attentive to both daily studio work and the stage.
Territori Creativi confirms DAF's vocation to make dance an accessible cultural asset: all events are free with mandatory reservation. A precious opportunity for the Roman public to follow the creative process of contemporary choreography up close, and for young dancers to measure themselves against top-tier masters in the heart of the Capital's summer.
The 2026 program of Territori Creativi weaves together creation, training, and performance over nearly a month of programming, confirming DAF - Dance Arts Faculty as one of the engines of contemporary dance in Rome.
