The visual arts festival of Civitanova Marche featuring graphics, photography, urban art, and independent publishing
The Tabula Rasa Visual Arts Festival is the event that every summer brings the best of contemporary visual culture to Civitanova Marche, on the Adriatic coast of the province of Macerata. Founded in 2021, the festival is curated by street artist and designer Giulio Vesprini and has established itself as a reference point in the area for lovers of editorial graphics, photography, illustration, and urban art.
The heart of the event is the Lido Cluana, a stone's throw from the sea: the Palazzina Sud hosts the exhibitions, while the Lido Gardens come alive with the market, talks, and workshops. The underlying idea is that of a large "diffused museum", where public space becomes the place where art meets people.
Each edition revolves around a theme that unifies the program. The exhibitions focus on photography, graphics, and urban signs, alongside installations and murals created specifically for the city. This is how the festival leaves permanent traces on the urban fabric of Civitanova, contributing to a public art trail that continues over time.
Among the most anticipated offerings is the Tabula Market, a market that brings together visual arts professionals with artist books, self-produced fanzines, independent graphic projects, photography and illustration magazines. It's an opportunity to discover and purchase publications that are difficult to find elsewhere and to meet the authors in person.
The festival has a strong educational focus: the workshops range from cyanotype to screen printing, from artist book binding to typography, from collage to linocut. In addition, there are the Tabula Talks, meetings with independent publishing and design realities from various Italian and European cities, and a film section with auteur screenings.
With free admission to most activities, Tabula Rasa is an event suitable for both art and design enthusiasts and families. For those visiting the Marche region in the summer, it's an opportunity to discover a different, creative, and contemporary Civitanova Marche, beyond its seaside dimension.
The theme chosen for 2026 is Alphabet City, inspired by the Manhattan neighborhood of the same name: a visual journey dedicated to signs, shop windows, posters, and graffiti, the elements that construct the city, its history, and its collective memory. The artistic direction remains entrusted to street artist and designer Giulio Vesprini.
The edition continues to be spread across the Palazzina Sud and the Lido Cluana Gardens in Civitanova Marche, with exhibitions, installations, workshops, talks, screenings, and the independent publishing market.
The detailed hourly schedule for talks, screenings, and the market will be updated on the festival's official channels in the weeks preceding the event.
Activities take place at Lido Cluana in Civitanova Marche (MC): exhibitions at Palazzina Sud, market, talks, and workshops in the Lido Gardens.
