Symphonic music under the sky and stargazing at Cascina Grande
In Rozzano, in the province of Milan, the Cascina Grande Cultural Center hosts a truly special evening: "And the Stars Are Listening," an open-air symphonic concert that concludes with astronomical observation. The idea, curated by the Gruppo Astrofili Rozzano (Rozzano Astrophile Group), intertwines two different languages—classical music and astronomy—into a single event under the sky.
The protagonist of the evening is the amateur symphony orchestra ControArco, conducted by Maestro Giulio Amerigo Galibariggi. The program features two great pieces from the repertoire: the famous and solemn 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky and the refined Symphony No. 3 by Brahms. The music resonates outdoors, on the lawn of Cascina Grande, in a evocative atmosphere as evening falls.
After the concert, the audience can access the astronomical observatory located within the facility on Via Togliatti in small groups, where experts from the Gruppo Astrofili Rozzano guide observations of the Moon and other visible celestial objects. This is the moment when the evening beautifully concludes, with gazes turned towards the stars.
Organized by the Gruppo Astrofili Rozzano in collaboration with AIMA APS, "And the Stars Are Listening" is an original cultural offering that highlights Cascina Grande as a meeting place for art and science. For those seeking a different kind of evening on the outskirts of Milan, this is an event to mark on your calendar.
The 2026 edition brings the amateur symphony orchestra ControArco to the lawn of Cascina Grande, conducted by Maestro Giulio Amerigo Galibariggi. The program includes Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and Brahms' Symphony No. 3. Afterwards, experts from the Gruppo Astrofili Rozzano will guide the observation of the Moon and other celestial objects from the facility's observatory.
