Three days of street art, music, and magic in the alleys of Montecassiano
Every year, at the beginning of June, the village of Montecassiano — one of the most evocative in the Marche region, in the province of Macerata — transforms into a labyrinth of art, sounds, and wonder. The Svicolando Festival was born from the idea of "svicolare" (to wander), of getting lost in the narrow streets and corners of the historic center to discover a different show at every turn: a juggler, a musician, a fire-eater, a light installation.
Promoted by the association Zandagruel Montecassiano APS, the festival is entirely built by the work of over two hundred volunteers, largely young people between 18 and 35 years old, who reinvent the face of the town each year. Admission is free and the entire village is closed to traffic and made pedestrian: you move on foot, letting curiosity guide you.
The heart of the festival is street art: acrobats, performers, fire shows, and light installations animate squares and hidden corners. This is complemented by several music stages with live concerts and DJ sets, a rich program of visual arts with exhibitions set up in the churches and historic spaces of the village, and theatrical and itinerant performances.
There is also a space dedicated to children: the Svicolandia area, active every evening, offers games, workshops, and services for families. Between one performance and another, the streets of the center fill with street food stands and refreshment points, to experience the festival until late at night.
Montecassiano is part of the circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, and the Svicolando Festival is the ideal opportunity to visit it in its most vibrant guise. The walls, squares, and medieval views become a natural backdrop for the shows, in a continuous dialogue between historical heritage and contemporary creativity. A free shuttle connects the parking lots to the center during the evenings, making the experience comfortable even for those arriving from outside.
In 2026, Svicolando Festival celebrates an important milestone: twenty years of art, music, and creativity in the alleys of Montecassiano. From June 5th to 7th, the historic center transforms into a large, spread-out stage, with concerts, street performances, light installations, and exhibitions. The anniversary edition confirms the formula that has made the festival a benchmark event in the Marche region: free admission, entirely pedestrianized village, and a program running from afternoon until late at night.
Itinerant shows and performances with Brunitus, Duo Sisu, Damiano Massaccesi, Les Coquelicots, fire shows by La Zandella and Una Lamp, acrobatics by Fabio Aureli, and the itinerant presence of M0LE$T.
Chiostro degli Agostiniani, Via Nazario Sauro, every evening from 8:00 PM to 11:30 PM: games, shows by Trio Meraviglia, nursery, and changing tables.
From Porta Cesare Battisti: Friday and Saturday from 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM, Sunday until 1:30 AM.

Admission to the festival is free.
Along the streets of the center, there are street food stands and refreshment points. The Svicolandia area offers a nursery and changing tables for families with children.
