Summer Festival of Saint Nicholas of Bari – Ganzirri

The four days of celebration (August 7-10, 2025)

The 2025 edition opened on Thursday, August 7, with morning prayer and Eucharistic celebration at 8:15 AM, vespers at 6:45 PM, and at 9:30 PM, a moment of evangelization and reflection on the figure of Saint Nicholas in Piazza Cutugno.

Friday, August 8, was dedicated to sports and fun with the 'Games without Borders' and musical entertainment in the parish field.

Saturday, August 9, after the morning liturgical celebrations and vespers, the musical show by Francesca Ariosto was held at 9:30 PM in Piazza Cutugno.

Sunday, August 10, the main day, the solemn Eucharistic celebration at 6:00 PM was followed by the exit of the statue and the procession along the streets of Ganzirri, culminating in the traditional crossing of the lake on a felucca amidst evocative lights and fireworks. The swordfish festival, a symbol of the maritime tradition of the Strait, was also held in the heart of the province of Messina.

• Following — Procession of the Saint Nicholas statue through the village streets
• Procession on Lake Ganzirri aboard the felucca, escorted by the boats of the faithful
• Fireworks from the lake to conclude the evening

During the festival days: White Night with live music, street food, and activities in the historic center, and the swordfish festival.
