SS. Crocifisso Festival

The 2025 festival

The 2025 edition of the SS. Crocifisso Festival brought Muro Leccese to life on May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. The event opened with Eucharistic celebrations and moments of prayer at the SS. Crocifisso Park, continuing with evenings of civic celebration in Piazza del Popolo.

Great emphasis was placed on music, with traditional brass band concerts performed by renowned Salento ensembles, and moments dedicated to the community, including a recital prepared by local school students. The culmination was reached with the solemn procession that returned the 17th-century wooden statue of the Crucifix to its rural church, accompanied by intense popular participation. To close the festivities, as per tradition, the highly anticipated fireworks displays took place.

Traditional three-day program

• Day 1: Religious ceremony and Eucharistic celebration at the SS. Crocifisso Park, followed by civic festivities with a recital by school students.
• Day 2: Musical evening in Piazza del Popolo with concerts by Salento brass bands (including the renowned bands of Squinzano and Conversano).
• Day 3: Holy Mass in the Mother Church and solemn return procession of the Crucifix statue to the rural Church of the SS. Crocifisso, with final fireworks.
