The travelling cultural review of the Fermo area between books, music, painting, and photography
Primavera sui Libri is the cultural review that since 2023 has enlivened Monte San Pietrangeli, a small village in the province of Fermo, in the heart of the Marche region. Promoted by the Progetto Comune association, the event is described by its organizers as "a living organism, in motion, that adds a piece every year and broadens its scope": from simple author interviews in the early editions, it has progressed to poetry and painting competitions, and has opened its doors to photography and local talents.
More than just a sequence of events, Primavera sui Libri is a shared journey that unfolds between April and May and touches several municipalities in the province of Fermo, transforming theatres and auditoriums into cultural laboratories. The review combines theatre, photography, painting, and poetry into a single experience, with the stated goal of returning culture to the centre of the community in its most authentic places.
The programme alternates book presentations, conferences, readings, concerts, and evenings dedicated to art. In Monte San Pietrangeli, the reference point is the Cine-Teatro Sala Europa, on Via Roma, while individual events are hosted in other spaces in the Fermo area, such as the Officina delle Arti in Montegranaro. Evenings are often accompanied by live music and a convivial final moment.
The common thread of the review is the Versi e Colori di Terra competition, divided into two sections dedicated to poetry and painting, to which, from the 2026 edition, increasing attention is given to photography. The closing evening, hosted in Monte San Pietrangeli, celebrates the finalists and awards the winners, giving space to local artists and emerging talents from the area.
In a small town in the Marche hinterland, Primavera sui Libri represents a successful experiment in local culture: bringing prominent authors, musicians, and artists to a close-knit community, creating an event anticipated by the public and enthusiasts. Admission to the events is free, with booking often recommended due to attendance.
The 2026 edition of Primavera sui Libri confirmed the growth of the review, described as a living organism that broadens its scope each year: from the author interviews of the early years to poetry and painting competitions, to the definitive opening to photography and talents from the Fermo area.
The journey unfolded between April and May in several municipalities of the province of Fermo, with events that combined literature, music, visual arts, and convivial moments. The closing evening, with the selection of finalists and the awards ceremony for the Versi e Colori di Terra competition, was held in Monte San Pietrangeli.
Opening evening at the Cine-Teatro Sala Europa in Monte San Pietrangeli, with a sold-out audience. The protagonists were the internationally renowned Marche violinist Valentino Alessandrini, capable of making the classical character of the instrument dialogue with contemporary sounds, and the performer Andrea Giacobbi, in an unprecedented short circuit between the elegance of music and the irony of stand-up comedy.
Evening at the Officina delle Arti in Montegranaro, with the presentation of the ten finalists for the painting section who will advance to the closing evening in Monte San Pietrangeli. Live music with the female choir Bohรฉmiennes, directed by Manuela Cosenza Liberati.
At the end of May, the review concluded in Monte San Pietrangeli with the awards ceremony for the Versi e Colori di Terra competition (poetry and painting sections) and ample space for photography and local artists.
The complete schedule included further events distributed across multiple municipalities in the province of Fermo between April and May.
The main events are held at the Cine-Teatro Sala Europa, Via Roma 16, Monte San Pietrangeli (FM). Some evenings are hosted in other municipalities in the province of Fermo.
Monte San Pietrangeli can be reached by car from the A14 motorway exit of Porto Sant'Elpidio or Civitanova Marche, continuing towards the hinterland. The nearest train station is Porto Sant'Elpidio, on the Adriatic line.
Admission to the events is generally free; booking is recommended for some evenings.
