Sperlonga Music Wave

A showcase for young talent from the South Pontine area

Sperlonga Music Wave is a non-competitive music festival dedicated to young singers, songwriters, and emerging musicians from the South Pontine area, in the southern part of the Latina province. No juries, no rankings: the format is purely about performance, an open stage where local youth can share their music with audiences during the summer evenings in Sperlonga, one of the most famous seaside resorts in Lazio and one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

How the festival began

The first edition took place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Piazza Fontana, featuring fifteen singers and bands primarily from Sperlonga and Fondi, but also from Priverno, Sonnino, and Terracina. Two hours of live music convinced the organizers to make the event a permanent fixture of the Sperlonga summer calendar. The project is conceived and managed by the Sperlonga Youth Center, through its Music Wave Group, together with the APS il Magazzino of Fondi, with the patronage and support of the Municipality of Sperlonga.

Much more than a concert

In subsequent editions, the festival grew into a true community day. The second edition, in August 2025, brought together over twenty emerging artists and hosted two well-known names from the young Italian scene: the Roman singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matteo Alieno and the Emilian rapper Marco Baruffaldi, a champion of inclusion. The daily program included meetings with guests, discussions between artists, a communal lunch, and even a square cleanup in collaboration with Plastic Free, before soundchecks and the evening show.

The Piazza Europa edition

Starting in 2026, the final evening is held in Piazza Europa, in the heart of Sperlonga's historic center: a natural amphitheater of white houses overlooking the sea, just a stone's throw from the village alleys. Young artists selected through an open call for local singers and bands take the stage, joined by special guests announced shortly before the event. Admission is always free.

Sperlonga: music and the sea

Attending the festival is also the perfect opportunity to discover Sperlonga, a pearl of the Ulysses Riviera between Terracina and Gaeta: golden sandy beaches, the Villa of Tiberius with its famous grotto, the National Archaeological Museum, and the steep alleys of the Saracen village. In the height of summer, the town comes alive with evening events, and Music Wave has become one of the most anticipated dates for young people in the Latina province and tourists flocking to the Lazio coast.
