Edition 2025 — Spello Splendens

Spello Splendens traditionally takes place during the Christmas period, between late December and Epiphany. In recent editions, the festival has offered concerts, exhibitions, conferences, lessons, and workshops that create a dialogue between medieval music from ancient codices and Italian and European oral traditions, featuring the sound of bagpipes, ciaramelle, and cornemuses in the historic locations of Spello.

Spello Splendens, the Christmas tradition

In previous editions too, Spello Splendens has enlivened Spello's Christmas holidays with a program of concerts, exhibitions, conferences, lessons, and workshops dedicated to medieval and traditional music.

Musicians from various parts of Italy have presented instruments and repertoires from the medieval sound heritage and European oral traditions, with a particular focus on the sound of bagpipes, ciaramelle, and cornemuses, which are central to the Christmas season. The event, proposed by the Adolfo Broegg European Centre for Medieval Music Studies and curated by Micrologus, remains a key event for lovers of ancient music in Umbria.
