Spartacus Run 2025: the third edition

On Sunday, November 16, 2025, Santa Maria Capua Vetere hosted the third Spartacus Run, with the meeting point and start at 8:30 AM at the foot of the Arch of Hadrian. For the occasion, the Podistica Sammaritana had redesigned the course, approximately 10 kilometres through the city centre, while maintaining the finish in the setting of the Campanian Amphitheatre.

The edition marked a historic high in participation: 1,200 athletes at the start, 1,016 men and 184 women, representing 118 clubs, with more than four hundred requests left out due to bib exhaustion. The race was valid for the ASI National Road Running Championship, with titles awarded in all categories, from Juniors and Promises to male and female masters.

Hicham Boufars won at the finish line in 30'04"; among the women, Francesca Palomba (Caivano Runners) succeeded in 36'13", ahead of her teammate Filomena Palomba (38'09") and Francesca Maniaci (38'27"). The prize-giving ceremony took place in front of the amphitheatre, accompanied by costumed fighters from the Pro Loco Spartacus, while the commemorative medal once again featured the figure of Spartacus.
