Solemnity of Our Lady of the Snows 2025

In 2025, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore celebrated the Solemnity of Our Lady of the Snows on August 5th, following the preparatory triduum on August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. In the morning, at 10:00 AM, the Capitular Eucharistic celebration was held, presided over by the Cardinal Archpriest of the basilica, with the re-enactment of the snowfall during the singing of the Gloria. In the afternoon, at Vespers, the fall of white petals was repeated during the Magnificat.

In the evening, Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore hosted an event open to the city, with live music, light projections on the facade, and new symbolic snowfalls of petals, which occurred at regular intervals until midnight, attracting numerous faithful and visitors to the heart of the Esquilino district in Rome.
