Solemn Celebrations in Honor of the Madonna di Leuca

The 2025 edition

From August 13th to 15th, 2025, Santa Maria di Leuca celebrated the Solemn Celebrations in honor of the Madonna de Finibus Terrae, confirming its status as the most attended event of the summer at Capo di Leuca. The festival followed the usual three-day structure: Holy Masses at the Basilica and the Church of Cristo Re, the procession of the statue through the town streets, and the evocative intorciata on August 14th, with the torchlight parade toward the Church of Cristo Re where the statue was watched over all night.

On Ferragosto, the most anticipated moment occurred: after the solemn Mass, the Madonna's statue was taken to the Fishermen's Harbor and embarked for the sea procession, followed by hundreds of vessels toward the bay of San Gregorio. The day concluded at midnight with the traditional fireworks display over the harbor, among the most evocative in Salento.
