The Slow Tour Festival - Art, Nature and Traditions is an autumn event that transforms the small village of Castel di Tora, in the province of Rieti, into a widespread laboratory dedicated to slow and sustainable tourism. Overlooking the waters of Lake Turano, one of the most picturesque basins in Lazio, the village hosts a three-day program that combines contemporary art, hiking, environmental education, music, and local flavors.

A festival dedicated to slow tourism

The heart of the event is the promotion of the cultural, artistic, and natural heritage of the Turano Valley. The underlying idea is to slow down the pace to discover the area with fresh eyes: walking paths towards Monte Antuni and its abandoned village, electric boat trips on the lake, and e-bike tours along the trails of the Sabini Mountains. It is a respectful, low-impact way to experience the territory, consistent with the "slow" philosophy that gives the event its name.

Urban art and culture

A central section of the festival is reserved for contemporary art: live painting sessions with Italian and international urban artists enliven the village streets, while the created works enrich the village's exhibition spaces. Recent editions have accompanied the launch of the Monte Antuni Civic Museum project, dedicated to the memory and identity of the valley's community.

Nature, sport, and the environment

Alongside art, there is plenty of room for outdoor activities: guided hikes, bike tours, nautical excursions with electric boats and the Naval League, as well as environmental education workshops designed for families and schools, such as creating "seed bombs" for children. The festival also offers moments of participatory archaeological surveys to introduce adults and children to the history of the area.

The days conclude with concerts, DJ sets, and live musical performances, accompanied by tastings from the Turano DiVino initiative and typical Sabina products.
