Free guided tours through the monumental fountains and hidden corners of Siena
Siena Incanta – History Flows, Art Blooms is the spring event through which the Municipality of Siena invites residents and visitors to rediscover a heritage often overlooked even by the locals: the ancient monumental fountains, secret gardens, and noble palaces that safeguard the city's hydraulic and artistic history. This free initiative consists of six guided tours spread over two Saturdays in the heart of Siena, the capital of the province of the same name in Tuscany.
Each day offers three different thematic routes designed to weave together history, art, and tradition. The project is part of a broader strategy to enhance the local area and de-seasonalize tourist flows by distributing cultural experiences throughout the year.
Uniting the two days is a captivating joint finale: the Coro Col Plaid accompanies the audience with an extraordinary performance of traditional Sienese songs, celebrating the close of each day. These two musical events take place at the city's historic fountains—at Fontebranda on April 25th and at Fontenuova on May 2nd—in an atmosphere that blends tradition, community, and memory.
Siena's fountains are not merely water points; they are monuments that tell centuries of medieval hydraulic engineering, legends like that of the Diana river, and daily city life. With "Siena Incanta," the Municipality offers the opportunity to view the city from a new perspective, far from the usual tourist circuits, to rediscover the most authentic soul of the Tuscan capital.
For the 2026 edition, the Municipality of Siena offered six free guided tours spread over two Saturdays, April 25th and May 2nd, each with three thematic itineraries at 5:00 PM. A program that wove together history, art, and music to rediscover the historic fountains and lesser-known corners of the city.
