From shearing sheep to wool thread, at the park's farm
At the farm of the Parco Giardino Sigurtà in Valeggio sul Mincio, in the province of Verona, Pecora Tosando showcases the ancient art of wool processing. It's a morning that combines agricultural tradition, education, and contact with animals.
The stars of the event are the Brogna sheep, an ancient native Veronese breed protected as a Slow Food Presidium. After shearing, visitors follow all the stages that transform the fleece into thread: carding, spinning, weaving, and felt work, with demonstrations and practical workshops.
The event highlights the connection between the Mincio territory, traditional farming, and wool-related crafts. An original offering set within one of Italy's most awarded parks, ideal for families and folk tradition enthusiasts, in the heart of Veneto just a few kilometers from Lake Garda.
The 2026 edition of Pecora Tosando is scheduled for Sunday, May 31st, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the farm of Parco Giardino Sigurtà in Valeggio sul Mincio.
Visitors will witness the shearing of Brogna sheep, a Slow Food Presidium, and follow all the stages of wool processing through demonstrations and practical workshops.
