Masks, music, and fun in the village of Valle del Misa
Every winter, the historic centre of Serra de' Conti, a small village in the Valle del Misa in the province of Ancona, transforms into an explosion of colours, music, and fun. The Serra de' Conti Carnival is one of those village festivals that are part of the identity of the Marche region: no large, glossy parade floats, but an event made of masks, confetti, street dancing, and great popular participation, capable of engaging children, families, and young people equally.
The heart of the festival is the parade of masks that winds through the most picturesque squares of the village. The meeting point is Piazza Gramsci, where a stage is set up with entertainers, dancing, and entertainment for all ages. There's also the traditional competition that awards the most original, creative, and fun masks: an opportunity to show off homemade costumes and boundless imagination.
Alongside the main day in the historic centre, the Serra Carnival dedicates specific spaces for children and evening dances, hosted at the Centro Sociale L'Incontro, at Via Vanoni 24. Here, children find afternoons of games and fun, while in the evening it's time for music and dancing for adults.
The Carnival is the result of the shared work of several local entities: the Municipal Administration, the Oratory of the Parish of Santa Maria de Abbatissis, the Pro Loco, the Centenaria Società Concertistica, the Centro Sociale L'Incontro, and the organizers of the musical evenings. It is this network of associations that makes the festival a cherished and rooted event, where the sense of community matters as much as the celebration itself.
For those visiting the Marche in winter, the Serra de' Conti Carnival is the best way to experience the genuine spirit of a village festival, with colourful masks, music, and the typical hospitality of this corner of the province of Ancona.
The 2026 Serra de' Conti Carnival animated the village in the province of Ancona with three days of celebration spread between the historic centre and the Centro Sociale L'Incontro. A choral program curated by the Municipality, the Parish Oratory, the Pro Loco, Vibes Eventi, Centenaria Società Concertistica, and the Centro Sociale L'Incontro, with events designed for children, families, and young people.
From the early afternoon, the historic centre transformed into an explosion of colours, music, and fun, with the mask parade making its way through the village squares.
The parade and entertainment take place in the historic centre of Serra de' Conti (AN), with the central point in Piazza Gramsci. Events for children and musical evenings are held at the Centro Sociale L'Incontro, Via Vanoni 24.
By car: Serra de' Conti can be reached from the SS76 (exit towards Valle del Misa) or from the A14 motorway, Senigallia exit, continuing towards the hinterland. By train: the nearest station is Senigallia, on the Adriatic line, from which you can continue by local transport.
All Carnival events have free admission.
