Polenta Festival 2025 in Sermoneta

The 2025 edition of the Polenta Festival took place on Sunday, January 19, the Sunday closest to the Feast of Saint Anthony Abbot. In the historic center of Sermoneta, the polentari cooked polenta in traditional copper cauldrons over wood fires, following the ancient local recipe born in the 16th century with the introduction of corn by Guglielmo Caetani. After the 11:00 AM Mass in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the procession with the sacred image of the saint, the 12:30 PM blessing of the polenta and bread opened the distribution in Piazza del Popolo, with sausage for everyone.

The afternoon was enlivened by the Sbandieratori Ducato Caetani and the folk group Capo d'Asino, with a free shuttle from the Monticchio market area. On the same day, polenta was also the star in Doganella di Ninfa, and on the following Sundays, the festival reached the hamlets of Sermoneta Scalo (January 26), Pontenuovo (February 2), and Tufette (February 9).
