A widespread festival in the heart of Sabina

Sentieri in Cammino is the theatre and music festival that has been bringing the villages of the Alta Sabina, in the province of Rieti, to life since 2020. The project, now in its seventh edition in 2026, is artistically directed by the Roman actor Massimo Wertmüller and organized by Paolo Di Reda, with the support of the Lazio Region and the Fondazione Varrone. Five municipalities share the programme — Poggio Moiano (lead town), Casaprota, Monteleone Sabino, Montenero Sabino, and Scandriglia — transforming municipal theatres, castles, and squares into a single, widespread stage.

The Teatro Sant'Antonio in Scandriglia

The Scandriglia stop has a special home: the Teatro Comunale Sant'Antonio, created from the restoration of the ancient church of Sant'Antonio thanks to the regional «Un paese ci vuole» grant. Inaugurated on July 2, 2022, with Max Paiella's show «Storie di un cantastorie», it is an intimate 70-seat hall, accessible to people with disabilities and equipped with modern technology: one of the three municipal theatres that, together with those in Poggio Moiano and Casaprota, serve the entire Alta Sabina area.

The 2026 programme in Scandriglia

Between April and May 2026, the theatre will host three events of the festival:

• Saturday, April 11, 9:00 PM — «Non è mai troppo tardi» with Stefano Masciarelli: the popular actor from «Avanzi» looks back on his career with irony, covering theatre, cinema, and current events, based on a text written with Francesca Nunzi and directed by Antonio Delle Donne.
• Saturday, May 9, 9:00 PM — «Guida pratica per coppie alla deriva» by Michele Riml, a world-renowned romantic comedy starring Massimiliano Vado and Danila Stalteri, directed by Nicola Pistoia.
• Sunday, May 24, 6:00 PM — «Domani è sempre domenica» by Gianni Clementi, with Gabriella Silvestri and Matteo Vacca: a priest and a parishioner trapped under the rubble after the 1943 bombing of Rome, amidst grotesque misunderstandings and memories of the war.

Popular theatre, popular prices

The formula is quality theatre accessible to everyone: a flat ticket price of 10 euros and booking via email or WhatsApp. The intimate hall creates a direct connection between actors and the audience, which is rare in larger circuits, and attracts spectators from Rome and across the Sabina region.

Scandriglia and the Alta Sabina

The Municipality of Scandriglia, a village of medieval origins nestled at the foot of the Lucretili Mountains along the ancient Via Salaria, finds in this festival a cultural opportunity that extends beyond the summer season. For the province of Rieti and the inland Lazio region, Sentieri in Cammino represents a virtuous model: bringing top-tier actors to small towns, enhancing restored spaces, and keeping village communities alive through live performance.
