The Sea Festival is one of the most beloved and deeply rooted events in Fano, a coastal city in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. Every year, in the first days of August, the city pays homage to its profound connection with the Adriatic Sea: a popular festival that blends remembrance, faith, culture, gastronomy, and entertainment, transforming the seafront and the port area into a vibrant space to be enjoyed day and night.
Three days between sea and community
The event unfolds across various city locations—from Sassonia beach to the Port Dock, and the Arzilla pier—with a rich program designed for all ages. Gastronomy is one of the festival's beating hearts: along the port, under the banner "From Fishing Boat to Table," stalls offer fresh Adriatic fish cooked according to the ancient recipes of Fano's fishermen, from 'brodetto' (fish stew) to fried fish. Music accompanies the evenings with numerous live concerts spread across multiple stages, while workshops and entertainment engage the youngest attendees.
The procession and remembrance of the sea's fallen
The most solemn moment is the maritime procession: civil, military, and religious authorities board a vessel that, accompanied by fishing boats and pleasure craft, sails offshore to lay a laurel wreath in memory of those who lost their lives at sea. The commemorative ceremony, with the flag-raising and tribute to the statue "La Tempesta" (The Storm), recalls how Fano's life has always been tied to fishing and the Adriatic Sea.
The grand finale: fireworks over the water
Closing the festival is the renowned fireworks display, launched from the Arzilla pier, which illuminates Fano's sky and sea, creating a magical atmosphere for thousands of spectators gathered along the shore. A spectacular finale that, for decades, has sealed one of the most iconic summer traditions of the Marche Adriatic Riviera.
Sea Festival — edition 2026
The Fano Sea Festival 2026 will take place from Sunday, August 2nd to Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, reaffirming the most cherished summer event in the Adriatic city. The festival renews its proven program, blending maritime remembrance, gastronomy, music, and tradition, spread across the Port-Darsena, the Monument to the Fallen, the Lido, and the Simonetti Seafront.
The event culminates on the morning of August 4th with the commemoration of the sea's fallen and the evocative procession of fishing boats, concluding late in the evening with fireworks over the sea.

Sunday, August 2nd
- 6:30 PM — Guided tours of Fano's maritime heritage
- 9:00 PM — Commemorative ceremony at the Monument to the Fallen
Monday, August 3rd
- 6:00 PM — Opening of the "From Fishing Boat to Table" gastronomic stalls along the port
- Evening with live music and activities for children
- From 10:00 PM — DJ set along the seafront
Tuesday, August 4th
- 5:30 AM — Sunrise concert on the beach
- 9:30 AM — Flag raising
- 9:45 AM — Blessing of the commemorative wreath
- 10:00 AM — Holy Mass with authorities
- 11:15 AM — Maritime procession of fishing boats and laying of the laurel wreath in memory of the sea's fallen

Practical information — Sea Festival
Location
The Sea Festival takes place in Fano (PU) along the seafront, in the port and dock area, on Sassonia beach, and at the Arzilla pier, where the final fireworks display is held.
Getting there
Fano is easily reachable by car from the A14 motorway (Fano exit) and by train via Fano station on the Adriatic line. During the festival, traffic regulations and parking restrictions are in effect in the seafront areas: it is advisable to consult the Municipal ordinances and to favour peripheral parking lots.
