Sarnano Comix, when the medieval village meets pop culture

Sarnano Comix is the celebration of comics and nerd culture that animates the historic center of Sarnano, one of Italy's most beautiful villages nestled in the Sibillini Mountains, in the province of Macerata, in the Marche region. Here, the medieval atmosphere of alleys, staircases, and uphill squares becomes the perfect backdrop for a blend of ancient and contemporary: armor and cosplay, stone walls and comics, historic shops and game consoles.

A collective project: the "Open Source" theme

The sixth edition, scheduled for July 11 and 12, 2026, is dedicated to the theme "Open Source". As the organizers explain, the idea draws from the world of free software: just as anyone can contribute to the code of an open-source program, so too can everyone contribute to the spirit of Sarnano Comix. Not just a fair, but a collective, open, and participatory project, built together with the community of enthusiasts.

What to find at Sarnano Comix

Along the event route, numerous themed areas are set up for every type of enthusiast:

• Exhibitors and artists: comic shops, illustrators, and creators of artisanal and handmade products;
• Cosplay area: the beating heart of the event, with the cosplay competition, photo sets, and many characters animating the village;
• Gaming and video games: gaming stations and retro gaming;
• Tournaments: Beyblade X, Magic: The Gathering, and role-playing games;
• Music: concerts, performances, and live DJ sets.

A free event in the heart of the Sibillini

Admission to Sarnano Comix is free and the event opens in the afternoon. The festival is conceived by Nicola Del Giudice and organized by APS Compagnia di Sotto Monte, with the patronage and contribution of the Municipality of Sarnano. For those visiting the Marche in the summer, it's also the perfect opportunity to discover a village of unique charm, between thermal baths, nature, and the imposing scenery of the Sibillini Mountains National Park.
