Santa Maria a Mare Patronal Feast

Ferragosto 2025 in the Isole Tremiti

The Santa Maria a Mare Patronal Feast brought the Isole Tremiti to life on August 15th and 16th, 2025, in the heart of summer. As per tradition, the celebrations took place around the sanctuary on the island of San Nicola, in the Province of Foggia.

The central moment was the procession of the Madonna's statue, led first through the village streets and then out to sea, embarked on a fishing boat decorated with flowers and ribbons, followed by numerous vessels for the traditional tour of the islands. Alongside the religious rites, the feast offered moments of conviviality with blue fish frying in the square, the greasy pole contest, and the typical flavors of the archipelago, in one of the most evocative settings in Puglia.
