Edition 2025 — Sant'Oronzo Little Festival

On February 20, 2025, Botrugno celebrated the Sant'Oronzo Little Festival with the traditional procession of the saint through the streets of the historic center, also documented by local press coverage. As per tradition, the day combined the devotional moment with the "macinula di Sant'Oronzo", the popular ritual featuring a raffle of local produce and a piglet offered by the community.

The 2025 edition of the Sant'Oronzo Little Festival took place regularly on February 20th in Botrugno, in lower Salento. The heart of the day was the procession featuring only the saint's papier-mâché head — the "capu te Santu Ronzu" — which traveled through the village streets starting from the Mother Church, accompanied by the faithful and the parish community.

Alongside the religious aspect, the macinula di Sant'Oronzo was also present, with the wheel decorated with typical Salento products and the piglet lottery, which renews the spirit of sharing of the festival every year. The recurrence confirmed the strong bond of this town in the Province of Lecce with its patron saint and the memory of the 1743 earthquake survival.
