Edition 2025 — Montalbano Elicona Sand Carpet Festival

In 2025, the Insabbiata of Montalbano Elicona once again celebrated Corpus Domini with its characteristic colored sand carpets. Along Via Mastropaolo, at the foot of the Swabian-Aragonese castle, the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and the village youth brought to life sacred depictions made with various colored sands and flower petals, which were visible all day and traversed by the traditional Eucharistic procession.

The 2025 edition of the Insabbiata confirmed the vitality of this Corpus Domini tradition in Montalbano Elicona. As every year, Via Mastropaolo was transformed into a large carpet of colored sand and petals, with compositions inspired by Eucharistic themes. The Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament coordinated the creation of the works, the result of the work of confreres and many young volunteers. The carpets served as a backdrop for the procession of the Blessed Sacrament, in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, attracting visitors from all over north-eastern Sicily.
