San Severino Marche Music Festival

A day of music spread throughout the heart of the Marche

The Music Festival of San Severino Marche is the event with which the town of Settefrati, in the province of Macerata, participates in the great European day dedicated to music, celebrated every year on June 21st, coinciding with the summer solstice. Born in France in 1982 and spread throughout Europe, the Fête de la Musique is now a ritual shared by hundreds of Italian cities: a day when live music becomes free, accessible, and widespread, taken out of concert halls to reach the streets, squares, and - in the case of San Severino - the charming courtyards of the historic center.

Courtyards as a stage

The formula chosen by the city is that of widespread music: instead of a single large stage, it is the courtyards, entrance halls, and most characteristic glimpses of the historic center of Settefrati that host the performances. Visitors stroll through the alleys and let themselves be guided by the notes, discovering corners of the city that remain hidden the rest of the year. It is a way to enhance the architectural heritage of the medieval village and, at the same time, to give space to local musicians and ensembles in an intimate and convivial atmosphere.

Part of the Summer Time program

The Music Festival is one of the events that kick off the rich Summer Time program, the summer schedule promoted by the Municipality of San Severino Marche, which accompanies the city from June to September with culture, entertainment, sports, and activities for all ages. The June 21st event falls within a particularly busy month, between the historical re-enactment of the Palio dei Castelli and other sporting and musical events of the Settefrati summer, and serves as a prelude to the major festivals of the following months, such as the historic San Severino Blues Marche Festival in July.
