San Rocco Patronal Festival

238th edition, August 6 - 17, 2025

The 2025 San Rocco Festival in Locorotondo celebrated its 238th edition. After the nine-day preparation period that began on August 6th, the festivities culminated in the central days from August 14th to 17th. On August 15th, the solemnity of the Assumption, the San Rocco White Night animated the historic center with street bands and performers, while the concert by Renzo Rubino with the Valle d'Itria Youth Orchestra took place in Piazza Aldo Moro, a show dedicated to Lucio Dalla.

On August 16th, the patronal day, the pontifical mass and solemn processions with the statue of San Rocco took place, accompanied by musical ensembles. On the night between the 16th and 17th, the 65th Valle d'Itria Pyrotechnic Festival saw three pyrotechnic companies compete from the Via Nardelli belvedere. Completing the program were the Ancient Market Fair, the 13th San Rocco Cycling Trophy, the hot air balloon launch, and the solidarity initiative "The San Rocco Children's Park for Gaza".

• 19:00 — Official program presentation in the Municipal Villa

August 6-14

• Preparation novena (Church of San Rocco and Cemetery)
• Light displays by master Gianfranco Paulicelli along the festival route

Thursday, August 14 - Friday, August 15

• Ancient Market Fair and funfair
• August 15 — Solemnity of the Assumption and opening of the city Jubilee
• August 15, evening — San Rocco White Night: street bands and performers in the historic center
• August 15, Piazza Aldo Moro — Concert by Renzo Rubino with the Valle d'Itria Youth Orchestra ("Cosa direbbe Lucio", tribute to Lucio Dalla)

Saturday, August 16 — Solemnity of San Rocco

• At dawn — "La Diana": musical wake-up call by the bands and ringing of the bells
• 11:00 — Pontifical Mass in the Mother Church
• 12:00 — Procession through the streets of the historic center
• 17:30 — Blessing of dogs on the steps of the Mother Church
• 20:00 — Solemn procession with the statue of San Rocco and civil/military authorities
• Midnight — 65th Valle d'Itria Pyrotechnic Festival: competition between three master pyrotechnicians (Via Nardelli belvedere)

Sunday, August 17

• 16:00 — 13th San Rocco Trophy, cycling race on a city circuit
• 21:30 — Hot air balloon launch
