Edition 2025 — San Rocco in Gimello
The 2025 edition of the San Rocco Festival in Gimello, a hillside hamlet of Rometta (Messina), spanned five days of festivities organized by the San Rocco Association. As per tradition, the saint's effigy was moved to the Church of the Immaculate Conception in anticipation of the final procession.
The secular program brought the village square to life with a pairs briscola tournament with great prizes (August 12), a food and wine evening featuring the characteristic pani cunzatu and music (August 13), and a tombola in the square (August 14). Ferragosto (August 15) was dedicated to music and entertainment, while August 16th featured the most anticipated moment: the procession of San Rocco through the streets of Gimello, followed by a musical evening and fireworks. A festival that confirmed the vitality of a tradition deeply rooted in this small Peloritani village.
