Montegalda's Spring Festival
The San Marco Festival and Fair is the event with which Montegalda, a municipality in the province of Vicenza nestled along the Bacchiglione river, celebrates the arrival of the warm season. It takes place on the days around April 25th, St. Mark's Day, and combines gastronomy, tradition, and entertainment.
Asparagus Takes Center Stage
The festival's signature dish is asparagus, a typical product of the Vicenza countryside, offered in many variations at the food stall along with the ever-present grilled meats. Surrounding the culinary offerings are an amusement park, a play area for the little ones, and a lively fair-market dedicated to crafts, hobbyists, and antiques.
Hot Air Ballooning Over the Village
Among the most captivating attractions are the hot air balloon rides (by reservation), which offer a bird's-eye view of the surrounding countryside and castles, and the guided tours of Montegalda Castle, an ancient manor that dominates the town. Organized by Pro Loco Montegalda, the festival is an authentic celebration where the community gathers and welcomes visitors with the typical warmth of the Vicenza region.

Getting Here
Montegalda is located about 18 km southeast of Vicenza, along the border with the province of Padua. By car: take the A4 motorway, exit at Grisignano di Zocco, then drive a few kilometers. By train: Grisignano di Zocco station, then take a bus or taxi.
Hot Air Balloons and Tours
Hot air balloon rides are by reservation. Guided tours of Montegalda Castle take place during the festival days. For information, contact Pro Loco Montegalda.
