Edition 2025 — San Leone and Lu Ciancialone

In May 2025, Silvi Paese renewed its patronal feast of San Leone with the traditional Ciancialone ritual. Three days of celebrations combined religious and popular dimensions: the solemn mass and procession, the town band concert, dialect theatre in the square with the play "Ma come si chiame?" by the La Bottega del Sorriso company, and finally the lighting of the great bonfire in Piazza Largo della Porta, amidst singing, dancing, and food stalls.

The 2025 San Leone festival in Silvi Paese

The 2025 edition of the festivities in honor of San Leone took place in late May in the medieval village of Silvi Paese, in the province of Teramo. The program alternated between moments of devotion and popular events: the solemn holy mass with the procession of the patron saint's bust, the performance of the town band along the village streets, and dialect theatre in the square with the comedy "Ma come si chiame?" performed by the La Bottega del Sorriso company.

The highlight was the lighting of Lu Ciancialone in Piazza Largo della Porta: the large bundle of reeds was hoisted with ropes in front of the church and set ablaze by the young local who climbed to the top, while the community gathered around the fire with singing and dancing, and food stalls enlivened the evening. In 2025, the festival once again confirmed the strong identity value of a tradition that Silvi has preserved for centuries.
